Geissinger grew up with an older brother, William James Geissinger (October 2, 1920-January 21, 1993). William worked for Cox Transportation Co. while living at 908 Dueber Ave. in SW Canton, Ohio. He was drafted to serve in World War II in the U.S. Army on November 2, 1943 before completing his senior year in high school and spent 21 days in foreign service (May 1, 1945-May 21, 1945). On February 15, 1946, William was honorably discharged from the military. He was married to Thelma Geissinger and had a son, George A. Geissinger, but later divorced and married Frances Ann Stumborg Beem (May 3, 1936-June 16, 1994), who is from Illinois, on December 29, 1971 in Winchester, Virginia. William is buried in Bolivar, Ohio at Fort Laurens Cemetery.
